Director’s Notes –

Steel Magnolias is such a brilliant mix of warmth, honesty and wit. I think it’s the perfect play to see right now. Let’s face it: These past two years have been incredibly challenging, to say the least. As I return to Directing for MHHF, I want to see stories of resilience with characters who see each other through the dark times and celebrate the good, who speak with candor, generosity and great humor. I want to feel lifted up. I need to be moved, and I really need to laugh. I feel certain that these ladies will provide you with all of that. If this story is new to you, you’re in for a real treat. For the rest of us, I hope it feels a bit like visiting old friends that you haven’t seen in a while and experiencing some good old Southern hospitality.

I hope you enjoy the show- Lance R Jones[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][image_with_animation image_url=”6959″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]

Annelle – Aliina Gibby

Aliina feels so blessed to be apart of this years production of Steel Magnolias. Her earliest memory of being on stage was singing the 1922 song “Toot, Toot, Tootsie” written by Gus Kahn when she was 7 years old. Aliina’s past productions include: Sound of Music,Kiss me Kate,Into the Woods,Tarzan, Oklahoma,Newsies,The Hunchback of Notre Dome and Charlie Brown. Aliina wants to thank her incredible husband for all his support and their fireball boys Oliver and Finnley. She has enjoyed her experience with these fabulous ladies and the challenge of being “Annelle” in this production. Now sit back, relax and enjoy the show as these ladies put on some good ol’ southern charm.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Truvy – Alicia Mickelsen

Alicia grew up in a large family and has lived in multiple countries. Moving so frequently in her formative years made it an emotional challenge when Alicia knew she was settling down for good in the mini-cassia area 10 years ago. Living so far in the country meant few neighbors and less opportunities to make close relationships. Not knowing what to do, she turned to prayer and was prompted to audition for a play. She found pure joy in the theater community and has happily participated in multiple productions. Mount Harrison Heritage Foundation has given her opportunities to perform in Les Miserables as well as Beauty and the Beast. She has also been blessed to be in the Wilson Theater’s productions of Shrek and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. Alicia‘s greatest joys are the love of her life, James, and her for supportive, awesome kids – Logan, Lizzy, Siri and Mark. Thank you for always cheering me on![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Clairee – Penne Maine

I’ve been the wife of Noah, the wife of Potiphar, the wife of Monsieur Thenardier , the wife of Lloyd Belcher, a Louisiana politician – not to mention a nun…3 different times! I’ve always wanted to be a millionaire & own my own radio station, so I have been living vicariously thru Clairee Belcher in this role!

The theater stages from Oakley to Rupert & in between have been very kind to me & I remain grateful for these lovely opportunities. After a wonderful career in broadcasting & marketing for over 35 years, it has been a privilege to come back to this area as the President of the Mini-Cassia Chamber of Commerce. It is a blessing to live, work & “play” in this terrific place we call Mini-Cassia! I thank my “sweet stepdaughter” & my one close friend who ran lines with me! (PS – My memory is not what it used to be! LOL)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Shelby – Madi Taylor

Madi Taylor playing the role of “Shelby” she’s 22 years old and made her first debut in mount Harrison’s 2006 production of the king and I. Since then she has been in many productions including; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Annie, Oklahoma, Rumors, Exit The Body, Terror By Gaslight, Beauty And The Beast and more. Madi has enjoyed all the challenges this character has brought on and the incredible story it tells. I couldn’t have done it without these amazing ladies I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with. I hope you all get a good laugh and a cry out of this wonderful show. We sure have![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

M’Lynn – Julene Thurston

Julene is grateful to be back on stage with such an amazing group of women. Theater to her is not only a hobby but a passion. Her life in the theater began in high school many, many years ago and she hasn’t looked back since. Thanks to the support of a loving family she’s been able to be involved in many productions. But the best thing she has discovered through all her years of working in the theater is that hard work and dedication equals success and the frosting on top is making relationships that last forever. Thanks to my dear friend Lance for this opportunity ❤️[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]

Ouiser – Beckie Clark

Beckie has spent the past 40+ years directing, acting and working backstage during many, many productions for Oakley Valley Arts, including playing M’Lynn in 1993. Some directing favorites include “Into the Woods”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Pirates of Penzance” and “Joseph”. Branching out into other theaters in the area has been delightful. Most recently Beckie was the assistant director for the Wilson Theatre’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” Playing Ouiser and getting to work with Lance and amazing friends both old and new has been better than track lighting![/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”7118″ alignment=”” animation=”Fade In” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”in_container” full_screen_row_position=”middle” scene_position=”center” text_color=”dark” text_align=”left” overlay_strength=”0.3″ shape_divider_position=”bottom” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_link_target=”_self” column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” width=”1/1″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” tablet_text_alignment=”default” phone_text_alignment=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeIn”]
